INSPIRATION

The outdoors has been apart of my life as long as I can remember and great memories were made while surrounded by nature. Every time I step out into the vast, undisturbed wilderness I am always reminded that life is precious and it's so important to soak in the moment. With the rapid pace of life quickly passing by, God's creation always has a way of pressing pause briefly, and allows me to reflect and soak in the moment.

STYLE

We use a combination of traditional gouges and power tools to create our carvings. Power carving has value when it can be strategically implemented along side the traditional craft and together they can create beautiful pieces that compliment each others strengths. But most importantly, the simplistic yet satisfying nature of traditional gouges will always be a priority and we strive to honor those values going forward.

VISION

There is no "CNC" or "automated" assistance here. Every carving is 100% completed by hand. Our goal is to achieve the best and highest quality we can provide efficiently, but yet still honor the integrity of the art. We do not have loyalty to a particular method, but we will always stay true to the hand crafted art form.

PROCESS

Here are a few simplified steps on how the carvings are created.

DETAILING

The final step in the carving process is detailing the scene. Depending on how intricate the area is I often use small burrs with a rotary tool to achieve specific textures. I detail with traditional gouges as well but to me this is where power carving can shine. The soft wood can be prone to breaking when carving small textures so I can be delicate with the rotary tool but still achieve unique results that doesn't compromise the strength of a particular area.
